Creating a Diverse Marketplace for Everyone

The Crafter’s Market Network, operated by Hearthstone Enterprises, LLC (“the Network”), is committed to creating markets that are exciting, diverse, and successful for both shoppers and vendors.

One of the best ways to achieve this is by maintaining a balanced mix of products throughout each event.

Rather than filling our marketplaces with numerous vendors offering substantially similar products, the Network strives to provide visitors with a wide variety of handcrafted goods, artisan foods, boutique merchandise, specialty products, and unique small businesses.

A thoughtfully curated marketplace encourages customers to explore every aisle, supports participating vendors, and creates a stronger overall event experience.

1. Category Limits

To maintain a balanced marketplace, the Network generally limits each event to no more than three (3) vendors within the same primary product category, although this number may vary depending on the size, venue, and goals of a particular event.

Examples of product categories include, but are not limited to:

  • Jewelry
  • Candles & Wax Melts
  • Crochet & Fiber Arts
  • Woodworking
  • Apparel & Clothing
  • Tumblers & Drinkware
  • Bath & Body Products
  • Home Décor
  • Laser Engraving
  • Pottery & Ceramics
  • Baked Goods
  • Specialty Foods
  • Artwork & Prints
  • Pet Products
  • Floral & Plant Vendors

Product categories may be expanded, combined, or modified at the Network’s discretion based on the size and theme of each event.

2. More Than Just a Product

Vendor acceptance is not determined solely by the type of product being sold.

When reviewing applications, the Network considers a variety of factors, including:

  • Product uniqueness
  • Craftsmanship and overall quality
  • Booth presentation
  • Marketplace diversity
  • Previous participation and professionalism
  • Event theme
  • Customer interest
  • Available vendor space
  • Overall balance of the marketplace

For example, two vendors may both sell jewelry, but if their products, artistic style, materials, and target customers are substantially different, both applications may be approved.

3. Vendor Application Review

Every vendor application is individually reviewed to help create the best possible marketplace for each event.

Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance, even if booth spaces remain available.

Applications may be evaluated based on:

  • Product category availability
  • Marketplace diversity
  • Product quality
  • Originality
  • Professional presentation
  • Event needs
  • Compliance with Network policies
  • Previous event participation when applicable

Accepted vendors will receive an official acceptance email with payment instructions.

4. Waitlist Process

Once a product category reaches its desired capacity, additional qualified applicants may be placed on a waitlist.

If space becomes available, vendors may be contacted based upon factors including:

  • Overall fit for the event
  • Product uniqueness
  • Completion of the application
  • Previous professionalism
  • Date the completed application was received

Placement on the waitlist does not guarantee acceptance.

5. Product Category Determination

The Network reserves the exclusive right to determine which product category best represents each vendor’s business.

Some vendors offer merchandise that spans multiple categories. In those situations, organizers will assign the category that best reflects the vendor’s primary product offerings for purposes of marketplace planning and balance.

A vendor’s requested category may differ from the category ultimately assigned by the Network.

6. Duplicate Product Considerations

The Network recognizes that no two businesses are exactly alike.

When evaluating vendors offering similar products, organizers may consider:

  • Product style
  • Materials used
  • Artistic approach
  • Target audience
  • Price point
  • Overall presentation
  • Product selection
  • Customer appeal

These factors help determine whether multiple vendors within the same general category can successfully participate together.

7. Organizer Discretion

The Network reserves the right to make reasonable exceptions to category limits whenever doing so improves the overall quality, diversity, or customer experience of an event.

Likewise, the Network may:

  • Limit additional vendors within any category.
  • Decline applications in categories already considered sufficiently represented.
  • Combine or redefine product categories.
  • Adjust vendor selections based on event goals, venue limitations, or customer demand.

Operational decisions regarding vendor acceptance, product categories, marketplace balance, and event planning are made solely by the Network and are final.

8. Our Commitment

The Product Category Balance Policy is not intended to exclude vendors. Its purpose is to create thriving, successful marketplaces where every participating business has an opportunity to stand out and succeed.

By thoughtfully curating each event, the Network strives to:

  • Encourage a diverse shopping experience.
  • Support a wide variety of small businesses.
  • Reduce excessive product duplication.
  • Promote fair opportunities for participating vendors.
  • Increase customer engagement throughout the marketplace.

Our goal is to create events that shoppers enjoy returning to year after year while helping vendors build lasting relationships with their customers.

Thank you for helping us build markets that celebrate creativity, support entrepreneurship, and strengthen the communities we proudly serve.
